Zyg Gregorek owner of Anglers Paradise holidays in Devon pushed his record of three 1000lb Big Game fish to four with a successful trip to Prince Edward Island, Halifax, Nova Scotia when he caught a monster Northern Bluefin Tuna whose estimated weight was well in excess of the one thousand pound mark.

Whilst using the 130lb Aquos Sport Mono he had 6 monster Bluefin Tuna of which the leader was touched on all 6, by the law of averages, probably at least two if not three were over the 1000lb mark.

The fish that they were most accurately able to gauge length and girth was ultimately lost to a broken leader, but only after the leader was first touched by the skipper thus the fish counted. His fishing buddy Jim was able to gauge the length of the fish which was greater than the distance between two rod holders on the boat at 10 feet 6inches with a girth estimated by Walter, a veteran Tuna angler of 7 feet.

Zyg’s previous thousand pound fish were Tiger Shark, Six Gill Shark and Great White Shark was acclaimed by the International Game Fish Association who stated “Zyg is believed to be the first person ever to accomplish this angling achievement”

Zyg acknowledged the efforts of Scott Bruce and his father Walter of Bruce’s Tuna Charters without whom, his achievement would not have been possible. His future plans include a quest for the elusive Greenland Shark which could push the record to five species.
